The Vancouver Club brings legendary jazz under its own roof for one night only with Vancouver saxophonist Cory Weeds and jazz icons Harold Mabern and Terell Stafford.

A saxophonist with an expressive sound rooted in Jazz tradition, a label owner tirelessly documenting unsung Jazz heroes, one of Canada’s most important Jazz impresarios, the hardest-working man in Jazz business – Cory Weeds is all of these things, and much more.
ABOUT HAROLD MABERN:
Harold Mabern, one of jazz’s most enduring and dazzlingly skilled pianists. He was an unsung hero of the 1960s hardbop scene, performing and recording with many of its finest artists, and only in recent years has he begun to garner appreciation for his long-running legacy in jazz and the understated power of his talent; as critic Gary Giddins has written, “With the wind at his back, he can sound like an ocean roar.” During his over a half-century on the scene as sideman and leader, he has played and recorded with such greats as Lee Morgan, Sonny Rollins, Hank Mobley, Freddie Hubbard and Miles Davis, just to name a few.
ABOUT TERELL STAFFORD:
Terell Stafford, acclaimed trumpet player based in New York, has been hailed as “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player” by piano legend McCoy Tyner. Stafford is recognized as an incredibly gifted and versatile player, having won a GRAMMY in 2009 with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, among numerous other accolades, and has performed with the likes of the Dizzy Gilespie All Stars and Diana Krall.
