Vancouver Club attends BC bartending competition
Congratulations to all the participants who competed at the CPBA 2nd Annual BC Cocktail Challenge 2011 this week.
Hosted by the Canadian Professional Bartender Association at the BC Hospitality Expo, the Challenge tested the skills of expert Bartenders from across the province in a competitive match for the coveted CPBA BC Cup.
Demonstrating true craftsmanship and originality, Jason Browne of Calabash Bistro awed the judges and claimed first place, with Keenan Hood from The Keefer Bar taking a close second and Arthur Wayne of The Cascade Club coming in a well-deserved third. Our own master Barman Jonathan Richard was there, representing The Club with his unique style and innovation.
Contestants were tasked to use Flor de Cana 5 year Nicaragua Rum as a base spirit, and were limited to only 6 ingredients in their cocktails. The winner will be treated to a complementary trip to Nicaragua to tour the Flor de Cana distillery as his grand prize. We applaud this event for promoting the quality and integrity of bartending in British Columbia; well done to all those who contended.
