Club Alert
Awaiting Further Instruction:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2020
Dear Members,
As mentioned yesterday, the Club has chosen to proactively, in an overabundance of caution, close the Club while we await a response and further recommendation from Vancouver Coastal Health. Communication concerning the potential COVID-19 exposure risk came directly to the Club late Thursday night and we immediately contacted Vancouver Coastal Health and WorkSafeBC, per the Club’s COVID-19 Safety Plan.
We have contracted National Building Maintenance Ltd., a certified cleaning company, who are performing a deep clean of all areas of the building. This will be followed up by further cleaning by our internal team.
All employees have undergone Yellow Cross CertifiedSAFE infectious disease prevention training and follow the necessary safety and sanitization procedures. The Club’s COVID-19 Safety Plan, shared with members and employees, has been written in accordance with WorkSafeBC guidelines.
Club employees are being updated in conjunction with the membership. We are keeping an open channel of communication and advising all employees to self-monitor for symptoms. The health and safety of staff and members are our top priorities.
We are anticipating an early reopening, but are awaiting word from health authorities. We will continue to update you as we learn more and decisions are made.
With care and concern,
Philip Ireland
General Manager & COO
Out of an Overabundance of Caution:
OCTOBER 15, 2020
It has come to our attention that there was a potential COVID-19 exposure risk at The Vancouver Club on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, between the hours of 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Out of an overabundance of caution and to proactively address concerns, we are taking the necessary measure to temporarily close the Club for the next 72 hours, effective immediately.
Although we have not been contacted by Vancouver Coastal Health, we will be working closely with them to obtain advice on next steps. Due to our Envoy check-in and health declaration system, all members and guests can be identified for contact tracing if necessary by Vancouver Coastal Health. If you were at the Club during the above stated times on Tuesday, you may be contacted by a health official.
During this weekend’s closure, we will perform a deep cleaning of all areas of the Club, and staff and members are advised to self-monitor for symptoms and be tested if there are concerns. There is no need at this time for any member to alter their activities or self-isolate.
We are awaiting further direction from Vancouver Coastal Health and will take necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our Vancouver Club family. We will communicate again by noon tomorrow.
With care and concern,
Philip Ireland
General Manager & COO
